Spring Reign
Spring is upon us with an increased chance of rain. With rain comes thunder, lightning, and in rolls a storm like none other.
According to the National Weather Service, three basic elements must be present for a thunderstorm to develop: Moisture, an unstable atmosphere, and wind to get the sky moving.
Whirlwind = Storm | Storm = Thunder | Storms are where thunder feels right at home.
Job 37:5 “God’s voice is glorious in the thunder”
Consider the resemblance of those elements to Job’s life-storm and conversation with God.
Is God’s voice more apparent during storms, through thunder? Storms are loud and unpredictable at times like the storms of life we experience. They can come like a whirlwind, arrest our thoughts, and while we’re still trying to process the life-storm the wind may suddenly calm and the rain quickly dissipate to vapor.
Some of life's most profound answers are only revealed through the tumultuous storms we face. It seems as though chaos clears the way for truth to emerge. Doubt inevitably fact-checks one amid a life storm:
Where is God?
Why can’t I hear Him?
Can He handle this storm?
Will He step in this time?
Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind (Job 38:1-3). God speaks to Job and says; “Brace yourself, be prepared to answer me.”
Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Who determined its dimensions?
Who kept the sea within its boundaries?
The storms of life will come, and there may be times when a purpose eludes us. Nonetheless, we must remember God’s questions to Job and know that He is in control and that we can put our trust in Him.
Remember:
He was there when we were not.
He determines our paths.
It is He who has kept us through every trial.
Job 38:37 “Who can tilt the water jars of Heaven?”
Some storms may prepare us for a downpour of blessings and favor. We must answer the questions of the thunder and not be afraid to be permeated in the rain of His presence and perfect peace.
“Who can tilt the water jars of heaven?”
No one; Not one of us can force the blessings and favor of God, but the storm you may be facing right now could be a deluge to test your confidence in Him. Listen, and be prepared to answer Him. He may be asking; Will you let Me have full REIGN?
The most profound answers may only come through a storm.
