What Is The Best Gift I Can Give To Jesus?
Christmastime is here again! I love this wonderful season. Of course, I endeavor to celebrate Jesus Christ, in my heart, every day and all year long. Christmastime naturally tends to direct our thinking towards giving. God is a giver. He is the greatest giver! When we give, we are being like Him.
It is unlikely that the “wise men” in the gospels arrived at the same time as the shepherds did to find Jesus in the manger. However, we do know that the wise men worshipped Jesus together and gave him gifts.
“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh”
Matt. 2:11
What can we give the One who already has it all? What could we give the One who already owns it all? What could we possibly give to God that He really needs?
“What is there that God wants from me?” is perhaps a better question. The answer is simple. It is you He wants. It is me He wants. It is us that God wants. When He truly has us, everything else in our lives should follow accordingly.
We should give to Jesus these things that none other can give to Him for us.
1. Our Time (The time, days, months, years, life, breath etc that God gives us on earth. It is a gift from Him to us. It all belongs to Him)
2. Our Talents (All our gifts, abilities and talents come from God and should be used for His glory in the earth. We should make our world, people, our home, our marriage, our children, our class, our job, our church and suchlike better. Our talents should be used for good and for God. He’s the One who gave them to use to begin with. They all belong to God)
3. Our Treasures (All our treasures belong to God. All our life, breath, families, futures, finances and every day belongs to God. We are stewards of these beautiful things. We should handle them all for God’s glory. Apostolic truth and doctrine is a treasure. True Biblical Christianity is Treasure. We must cherish these with our hearts and lives. We must hand them down to our children. We must allow God’s hands to direct the lives of our treasures-our children)
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
Acts 2:38-39
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”
Deut. 6:5
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matt. 6:33
“For in him we live, and move, and have our being;”
Acts 17:28
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
Ecc. 12:13
“It is you He wants. It is me He wants.
It is us that God wants.”
The late pastor Paul Hosch, of Dallas, Texas, used to preach and say, “Honey, you don’t need more of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost needs more of you.” Tis’ true! Tis still true.
We can give to him what no angel and nobody else can give Him. We can simply give him our hearts and lives. When God truly has our hearts, then we will find it a joy to give Him “our” time, “our” talents as well as “our” treasures.
Give Him your heart.
Give Him your life.
Give Him your all.
It all belongs to Him anyhow!
That’s as simple as it gets. Sometimes “simple” is simply the best.
