WELCOME TO THE TABLE!
Welcome to the table Timothy! Pull up a chair. Have a seat. My table is now your table. It is our table. This table is about the table of your heart. It is the table of relationship between you and God. It is about the table of relationship between you and your man of God. It’s the table of fellowship, instruction, mentoring and growing in your call.
Aside from being a born-again Christian the greatest privilege in the world is to be called, by God, to preach His gospel. You may remember some of the things I’ve previously shared in some of my letters:
Rom 10:14-15
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
1 Timothy 1:12
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
2 Timothy 1:9
9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
Hebrews 5:4
4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
Timothy, there is a great value in pulling up to another man’s table. The blessings of receiving ministerial training through a mentor are innumerable. As your friend and pastor it is my joy to mentor you for apostolic ministry. Oh how I thank God for Barnabas when I was new in the church and to ministry. Good ole’ comforting and patient - Barnabas! He loved me and believed in me. He gave me a chance. Barnabas saw God’s hand on my life and he helped me grow. We all need a ministerial mentor in our lives and I wish to be that mentor for you.
As you move forward in your calling other ministers will no doubt inspire and motivate you. You may even find that some serve as mentors whether directly or indirectly. Yet, none can take the place of your pastor. Your shepherd knows you better than anyone else and he loves you.
1 Cor 4:15
For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel
It is your pastor’s God appointed duty to train you. In turn, it is your duty to be all-the-more faithful and loyal. It’s my privilege Timothy to be your pastor. I consider it an honor that the Lord has placed me in the position of mentoring you for apostolic ministry!
I look forward to sharing my heart with you concerning many aspects of the ministry, and I treasure our future together at the table of fellowship and devotion. I will write you often. Please read my letters and reread my letters carefully. They will compel you to be all that God has called you to be.
Timothy, I love you like a son. In fact, you are my son in the faith; my son in the gospel.
1 Timothy 1:2
2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
2 Timothy 1:2
2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Timothy 2:1
1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
I believe in you son! You can do all things through Christ, Who will continually give you strength.
Look for my letters Timothy!
